Privacy Policy
Who we are
Wissel is a co-parenting app. It helps parents in a shared household coordinate custody schedules, children’s clothing, styling, and messages with a co-parent.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and what choices you have today.
Wissel is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — PLACEHOLDER].
Questions about this policy or your information? Contact us at privacy@wisselapp.com.
A few things many parents ask first:
- We do not use analytics tools to track how you use the app.
- We do not use your information for advertising analytics.
- If you invite someone from your contacts, we do not upload your full contact list—only the person you choose.
What this policy covers
This policy describes Wissel as it works today—the app and the services that keep your account, household information, and photos available.
It does not cover planned features, or unfinished screens and buttons that are not yet connected to a real process.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you create an account or use Wissel, you may provide:
- Account details — email address and password (to sign in)
- Profile details — name, email, and phone number
- Household and invitation details — household information, and an email or phone number when you invite a co-parent
- Child information — a child’s name (and related information kept with your household)
- Custody and calendar content — schedules, proposed changes, event details, locations, and notes
- Wardrobe and styling content — clothing details, outfits, and packed bags, including photos you take or choose from your library
- Messages — the text you send to a co-parent
- Notification preferences — three preference settings in your profile
While you’re setting up your account, the app may temporarily save draft information on your device (including a password draft). That draft stays on the device and is not cleared automatically when you log out.
Information created as you use Wissel
As you use the app, we keep the information needed for it to work—for example who is in your household, the status of invitations, custody proposals and events, wardrobe items and photos, outfits, bags, whether a message has been read, and updates to your profile or preferences.
Child-related information
Wissel is built for co-parents coordinating around children. Today, child names (and related child information tied to your household) can be saved in Wissel.
A child’s date of birth, if shown or entered in the app, stays on your device for now and is not saved to Wissel online today.
Clothing photos for a child’s wardrobe are stored as described under Storage below.
Location and address information
If you allow location access, Wissel may briefly use your device’s precise location for things like weather-related styling previews. We do not keep that precise location as part of your ongoing profile.
When you use maps or look up a place for a calendar event, address or place text may be sent to Mapbox so those features can work. If you save a location or notes on an event, that content is stored with the event and shared with your household as described below.
Device contacts
If you allow contacts access, Wissel can use contacts on your device to help you pick someone to invite. We do not upload your full contact list. Only the details you choose for the invitation (such as an email address) leave your device.
Crash reporting
If the app stops working unexpectedly, Wissel may send crash information to Sentry so we can understand what went wrong. This is only for diagnosing crashes. There is no setting in the app to turn this on or off.
Analytics
As noted above, Wissel does not use product analytics tools (such as Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, or Mixpanel).
How we use information
We use this information to:
- Create and maintain your account and keep you signed in
- Set up and run your household, invitations, and child information
- Provide custody calendars, proposals, and related event details
- Store and show wardrobe items, clothing photos, outfits, and bags within your household
- Deliver messages between you and your co-parent
- Remember the notification preferences you choose (see Notifications below)
- Show maps, place lookup, and weather where you use those features
- Diagnose crashes when crash reporting is available
- Keep Wissel running through our service providers (especially Supabase)
We do not use your information for advertising analytics.
Household and co-parent sharing
Wissel is built for two parents working together. Information you add for co-parenting is meant to help both of you—not stay private to one parent alone.
Within your household, you and your co-parent may see and work with shared information such as:
- Your children’s names and related household child information
- Custody schedules, calendar events, locations, and notes
- Wardrobe items and clothing photos (so you can both see what’s available; who can add or change items follows the household rules in the app)
- Outfits and packed bags
- Each other’s display names, so it’s clear who you’re coordinating with
Messages stay between the people in that conversation—usually you and your co-parent.
Your full profile is not open for your co-parent to browse. They may see limited details (such as a name) where the app needs that for you to work together.
When you invite someone, invitation details (such as email or phone, and whether the invite is still pending) are shared only as needed: you can manage the invite, and the person you invited can see that they have a pending invitation.
When we share information
We share information in these situations:
- With your co-parent / household — so you can collaborate, as described above
- With service providers — companies that help run Wissel (listed below)
- If required by law — if we are legally required to disclose information ([LEGAL PROCESS LANGUAGE TO BE CONFIRMED — PLACEHOLDER])
- Business transfers — if Wissel is involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction ([TRANSACTION LANGUAGE TO BE CONFIRMED — PLACEHOLDER])
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
These companies help Wissel run today:
Supabase
Supabase handles sign-in and stores your account details, household information, messages, invitations, wardrobe details, and clothing photos (in private storage) so the app can work.
Mapbox
Mapbox powers maps and place lookup when you use calendar and event features. Address or place-related requests may be sent to Mapbox in those moments.
OpenWeather
OpenWeather (OpenWeatherMap) provides weather for styling-related previews. When that happens, the location information needed for weather may be sent to OpenWeather.
Sentry
Sentry may receive crash information if the app fails unexpectedly. This is for crash diagnosis only. Retention and regional settings for Sentry are [TO BE CONFIRMED OPERATIONALLY — PLACEHOLDER].
Account terms, data processing agreements, and account controls for these companies are [TO BE CONFIRMED OPERATIONALLY — PLACEHOLDER].
Permissions
Depending on your device and what you use, Wissel may ask for:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Take clothing photos for the wardrobe |
| Photo library | Choose clothing photos for the wardrobe |
| Contacts | Pick someone to invite (only the person you select) |
| Location (while using the app) | Features such as weather previews and travel-time related tools |
You can change these permissions in your device settings. If you deny a permission, related parts of the app may not work.
Storage
Your information is stored:
- With Supabase — your sign-in details, profile, household, children, custody and calendar information, wardrobe details, messages, invitations, notification preferences, and related records
- In private photo storage (via Supabase) — clothing photos, available to authorized household members through time-limited links
- On your device — things like onboarding drafts, some details that stay local for now (for example a home address shown in the app that is not saved as part of your online profile), and temporary files used while processing images
Profile photos and message attachments stored online are not available as features today.
Security
To help protect your information, Wissel requires you to sign in, limits what each person in a household can see and change, and keeps wardrobe photos in private storage.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We do not claim perfect security, certifications, or guarantees that unauthorized access can never occur.
Retention
We keep information while your account and household remain in Wissel, with these details:
Invitations expire by default after 7 days if they are not accepted (or sooner if you revoke them or they are accepted).
When you remove some content in the app (for example a wardrobe item), it is often hidden rather than permanently removed today. For wardrobe items, the associated photo may also remain until we improve cleanup later.
We have not published fixed retention periods for most other kinds of information. Backup schedules and long-term storage retention are [TO BE CONFIRMED OPERATIONALLY — PLACEHOLDER].
Your choices and controls
Depending on what you’re using, you may be able to:
- Edit your profile name and phone number
- Log out of your account
- Create, review, or update household, custody, wardrobe, and messaging content where those parts of the app are available
- Remove some content (for example wardrobe items) so it is hidden in the app
- Manage invitations (create, accept, decline, or revoke, where available)
- Change three notification preference settings in your profile
Notifications
The notification preference settings save your choices. Wissel does not currently send push notifications. Turning a setting on does not mean you will receive alerts on your device today.
Sign-in options
Today, Wissel supports email and password sign-in. Apple Sign In and Google Sign In are not available yet, even if related buttons appear in unfinished parts of the app.
Subscriptions
Subscription or plan prices shown in unfinished parts of the app are not a live purchase option today.
Account deletion
Wissel does not currently offer a way to delete your account from inside the app. Any control that looks like “Delete Account” is not connected to a real deletion process today.
If you want to request deletion of your account or related information, contact privacy@wisselapp.com. How we handle those requests manually is [PROCESS TO BE DEFINED — PLACEHOLDER].
Logging out ends your session. It does not delete your account or household information.
Data export
Wissel does not currently offer a way to download your data from inside the app. Any control that looks like data download is not connected to a real export process today.
If you need a copy of your information, contact privacy@wisselapp.com. Whether and how we can fulfill export requests manually is [PROCESS TO BE DEFINED — PLACEHOLDER].
Children’s information
Wissel is for parents and caregivers coordinating co-parenting. It stores child-related information that parents enter or create in the household—especially child names and wardrobe photos.
Wissel is not meant for children to use as the app’s users.
Questions about children’s privacy laws and how Wissel should be described publicly are still subject to legal review. Contact privacy@wisselapp.com if you have concerns about a child’s information in a household.
International data transfers
Wissel uses cloud providers (including Supabase, and depending on what you use, Mapbox, OpenWeather, and Sentry for crash reporting). Your information may be processed in the regions those providers use.
Specific hosting regions and transfer details are [TO BE CONFIRMED OPERATIONALLY — PLACEHOLDER].
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Wissel’s practices change. When we do, we will update the version and “Last reviewed” date at the top of this document.
How we notify you of important changes (in the app, by email, or on a website) is [NOTIFICATION METHOD — PLACEHOLDER].
The public web address for this policy is /privacy/ (not yet linked from the app).
